Seven weeks was a long time to be away, and it’s already eight weeks since I got back. Time certainly does fly, but that’s not always a good thing.

The trip home to Australia was exactly what I needed. Time with friends, time with family, and particularly time with Mum. Changed plans meant I had to be creative with accommodation, among other things, but that led me to people I hadn’t seen in years, and places I’ve never been before. All in all, it was the perfect vacation, although even with seven weeks, there simply wasn’t enough time for everyone.

Now back at work, it’s been quite the ride. Some script supervising, some editing, some Toastmasters commitments, some writing, some speaking, some acting, and a few other things thrown in for good measure. I love what I do, but it’s already clear there simply isn’t enough time for everything, so something has to give.

Sometimes a time out can provide more perspective than you were looking for, and after all that time away from my office, I can clearly see some changes coming my way. It’ll take some skillful navigating, and a bit of help from my friends, but I’ve already started and it’s already paying off.

The future looks interesting, and I’m committed to making time for it. And that is definitely a good thing.
